A symphony of birds

A microscopic virus

with its fearful power

has paused, for the moment,

the pace of the cacophonic excess

of the human race

sooner or later, early or late

we shall clamor on

the highway resumes its rumble

airliners their yowl

machinery will whine

yet now, within this quiescence, I listen:

birds trill symphonies

owls hoot softly;

geese loudly honk their arrival

at a nearby pond;

a Carolina wren solos

its adoration of the sublime
